Getting to know your photographer
We all know hiring a wedding photographer is a very emotional decision. Below I will list a few important questions to ask your potential photographer to understand a little more about what you are getting and their background. For all of these questions we will answer them so you have an idea what Von Langen Studios has to offer. My biggest goal is to be a very transparent photographer, what you see is what you get.
- How long have you been doing photography? (This will give you an idea of their background)
My husband and I have been taking professional photographs for the past 3 years. I took many college photography classes and really have a great understand about photography, lighting, posing, and editing.
- What kind of camera do you use? (This will give you an idea how what they use to shoot)
I use a Nikon Full-Frame D750 camera. Full-Frame is great in low light situations, like an indoor reception. It’s full-resolution performance really makes this camera stand out and it really gets all the little details like the clear pin stripes on a suite. I also use a fixed 50mm lens which makes for great portraits. We also have backup cameras and lenses.
- What is your turn around time on pictures?
This is really important. Sometimes photographers outsource all their images and it can take a lot time for the images to come back edited. In some cases, could be more than 3 months. We at Von Langen Studios have a very fast turnaround time on our editing. Within 24 hours of your wedding, you will receive 20 professionally edited images posted on our Facebook page (Von Langen Studios, LLC) as a preview. All of the other images will be professional edited an sent to our clients digitally via google drive and they will also be mailed a thumb drive, normally within 1-3 weeks of your wedding date.
- What is the photography style you prefer?
I prefer photojournalistic. I think its best when I am able to capture you in the moment. The groom seeing his new wife for the first time. Doing outdoor photos when the couple is looking in each other’s eyes or kissing. I also always get photos looking at the camera and smiling but I do feel it is important to capture you in the moment. However, I will shoot anyway that you would like me too.
- Is it a good idea to have two photographers?
Its honestly up to you. If it in a bigger wedding 100+ people it is nice to have two photographers there. It is also nice to have several photos of the bride and bridesmaids getting ready and have the other photographer getting pictures of the groom and groomsmen getting ready.
- Will your images have watermarks on them?
Some photographers have watermarks on their images. We never put watermarks on your images that you will receive digitally or on the flash drive. We also provide all our clients with a print release so you can get your images printed anywhere you would like.
- Do you travel?
Yes! I have done weddings in Buffalo and Canada. As well as many around the Syracuse area. Anything outside of a 40-mile radius of Syracuse might be subject to a small travel fee depending on the travel distance.
- Are you able to meet ahead of time at our venue to see the set up?
I love visiting the venue a head of time with the clients. This allows us to brainstorm and come up with the best ideas for pictures and set up. This is also a great time to come up with a shoot list and all of your must have shots.
